Link between pre-clinical and
clinical research:

Pregnancy complications: challenge and/or chance for further cardiovascular risk in later life?

Projectnr.: 16426

In close cooperation with the clinical department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical University of Graz as well as the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Clinical Center in Klagenfurt, the department of Biological Psychology (Karl-Franzens-University Graz) and the department of Social Psychology (Alpen-Adria University Klagenfurt) we investigate the follow up in a postpartum setting. With this proof we aim to link pregnancy outcome to maternal risk factor for vascular and metabolic diseases in later life. This OeNB financed study offers the possibility for counselling the concerned women about their risk and the benefit of modifying lifestyle. (link Folder) Teilnehmerinnen gesucht!

Cardiovascular reactivity

In cooperation with several clinical departments of the Medical University Graz we investigate the dynamics of cardiovascular reactivity in distinct patient sub-samples with a particular focus on the detailed analysis of transient processes and the interaction between multiple response systems

Consultation in (physiological) data analysis and statistics

As a partner in clinical research we advise in methodological questions and development of study design and assist in statistical data analyses.

Link between medical and
psychological research:

Cardiovascular reactivity

  • Development and evaluation of new test-paradigms
  • Development of a large data base for specific research questions
  • Cardiovascular reactivity and emotion regulation
  • Cardiovascular reactivity and the processing of humor In close cooperation with experts from the department of Biological Psychology (Institute of Psychology, Karl-Franzens-University) we primarily investigate the dynamics of the cardiovascular system in association with emotion regulation, cognitive processing and humor.
