Lehrstuhl für Physiologie

In preclinical training, our division is represented in seven required modules that provide an introduction to the fundamentals of physiology in the following areas:

  • Aspects of blood function
  • Bone physiology
  • Neurophysiology
  • Gastrointestinal tract
  • Cardiovascular and lymphatic system
  • Respiratory tract
  • Renal and hormonal physiology
  • Thermoregulation

Interaction: Teaching and research

The Division of Physiology & Pathophysiology actively promotes interdisciplinary education and the interconnection between content and the different research areas. Along with staff members from the division, clinical colleagues with different specializations—for example lymphology—are lecturers for our courses, and they embody the relationship between the hospital and research in their preclinical routines. A further emphasis is on problem-oriented learning (POL), in which students work on scenarios related to the research areas (e.g., changes during a space mission). This helps improve their understanding of physiology and is an essential part of the interaction between teaching and research.

Postgraduate education and training

In addition to standard degree programs, we are especially keen to provide a better understanding of physiology in postgraduate courses.
